FAQ's
What exactly is VidPitch anyway?
Vidpitch is a dream job competition within the entertainment industry.
What do I do once I have my video pitch ready?
Once you've got your recorded pitch into a digital format, and you have the release form completed, sign up to enter the competition through the sign-up link, and upload it to our site through http://www.youtube.com/group/vidpitch. We'll take it from there.
Can I apply by mail?
You can apply online or via the mail with your ready-to-upload, or mail, VidPitch DVD and release form.
How does it work?
Each week, a panel of industry professionals will serve as our judges and choose the top pitches per job description. The audience will then vote for the favorite "pitch of the week," which will be revealed the following week.
How is my pitch judged?
Do understand that it is going to be the creative way in which you tell us your pitch that is going to move you on to the next rounds, until we whittle it down to the grand prize winner.
Remember, your pitch has to get our attention and hold it. If are disqualified at any time during our program, we will introduce you to professionals in the field who can help you improve your pitch and give you an opportunity to polish it for your own presentation to the big time.
Who are the judges involved?
The judges are Bob Cambridge (with 25 years of marketing experience in the entertainment industry, including his work as VP of Marketing with ABC and Tribune), Dawn Stephens (a successful writer-producer of novels, screenplays, and Broadway plays), and Avi Azi (a well established icon in the entertainment industry in her work with the Travel channel and the Discovery Channel, currently President of Management with VidPitch.com).
Is this going to be on TV?
Yes, but only the top pitch finalists from each job description will make it that far. A one-hour VidPitch program will air in over 100 million homes on the America One network on a date to be announced. During this hour, there will be a re-cap of the top 3 pitches, then our 3 judges - and the audience - will select our grand prize winner!
Will there be a winner in each job description?
There will be a finalist in each job description, but only one grand prize winner.
Who will see my pitch?
Those same millions of folks that tune in to the interactive elements of the competition as well as the TV viewing audience - that is if yours is one of the best, or worst, that we feature.
Can I enter in more than one job description?
Yes - as long as you are qualified for the desired job description.
If my pitch is not selected for the competition, have I lost my chance to pitch my dream job?
Not at all. You can work on it and submit it for next season if it's ready. Also, we offer services to help you with your pitch. Click here for more information about the services we offer.
Will my DVD be returned to me if I send it via mail?
If you send a SASE, yes, it will be returned to you.

So, what makes a good pitch?
Okay, here are some guidelines to keep in mind as you develop your pitch:
LENGTH: You are limited to 30 seconds, so carefully plan all you want and need to say, or show, to make your pitch a success. If you can tell your dream job properly in 30 seconds, do so. Do not fluff up your pitch by taking more time if it isn’t needed. Remember the adage to “keep it simple” – but do not forget about keeping it entertaining, effective, and compelling.
LOG LINE: Start with a clear and concise Log Line – one sentence that best, and fully, describes what your pitch is about. In as few words as possible, you must be able to tell your pitch. A Log Line is often all you will ever have time for when you run into Stephen Spielberg or Mel Gibson in an elevator. If your Log Line doesn’t get him to want to hear more, it may have the same effect on the executive watching your pitch.
DETAIL: Try to stick to the overall, larger, conceptual elements of your pitch. Trying to fit in too many details and specifics often clouds what you're trying to sell. The pitch must always be clear, concise, and efficient. If it isn't "pitchable" in 30 seconds, it is probably too complicated. Fine-tune your pitch until you are happy with what you are presenting.
HOOK: Make sure your pitch has elements or qualities that make it unique. What makes your qualifications for your dream job different than other applicants competing for the same job? What is it about your pitch that is going to make the studio executive sit up and take notice? Find your hook and put it in early within your pitch. More than anything, you need to grab the attention of those watching your pitch and make them want to keep watching.
THEME: Your pitch should have a strong backing based on your experiences and qualifications for your dream job. Think about what the theme of your pitch might be. Decide how you might best express, or illustrate, this important selling point.
BE CREATIVE: Uniquely, VidPitch offers a wonderful opportunity to use the audio-visual medium to tell your pitch. It’s all up to you how, and what, to present to captivate your audience. You can use charts and diagrams; you can act our performing your dream job in your pitch; you can simply sit in front of a neutral background and give us your verbal pitch; you can do a handstand atop a mountain reciting your pitch backwards, if that is what you really want to do. Just remember that it is the pitch itself that needs to come through and not necessarily any high jinx or bells and whistles that might end up distracting from the pitch. Take your time and clearly decide what is the best way you want to pitch your story.
BE YOURSELF: This is also an opportunity to say something about yourself with speaking skills to sell yourself. So put your best foot forward and be who you are. You have acted in a low budget movie, so even if your movie is not a hit, you are an actor/actress. Be confident and proud of that fact. You are selling yourself as the most qualified person for the job. So think it, believe it and pitch it..
